ELI TOMAC - GRIT 240 450SX

GRIT-240 | 450 SX

Hoping to rebound after last week's performance in Detroit, the Yamaha rider seemed to be present and in the moment while scouring the track for qualification. Lines were forming across most of the raceway, though various berms were a bit loose at the top...which was similar terrain for what Eli Tomac had ridden at his home tracks in Colorado throughout the duration of his career. The number three showcased immense speed across all sections of the racetrack, which led to a notable gate choice being earned for heat two. His starting position of fourth would set the stage for a position of third to be garnered around the halfway point...where constant pressure enabled the Yamaha rider to move ahead of rookie, Hunter Lawrence. Eli was charging with all of his might when diving into various bowl turns, using the traction that was still intact as a means of pivoting and cutting at rather acute angles - yet still possessing the speed necessary, to pull away from the pack of riders (including Lawrence who he'd just passed, along with teammate Cooper Webb). The window to make more advancements was diminishing, but Tomac remained adamant that he was going to give one-hundred percent effort when racing to the finish line. Eventually residing in a position of third as the checkered flag waved, Tomac's lap-times were paralleled to winner Aaron Plessinger, while not far off of Jason Anderson who was finalized in second. Once into the finalé, mentality of Tomac would switch into a determined pathway of points accumulation. Every spot in the running order was crucial, and a means to stay within the title fight...and after rounding the first corner near the top-five, the outlook for Eli seemed positive. He had made his way into fourth, and then third, while passing Vince Friese and also inheriting a position to Aaron Plessinger's crash...and though "ET" seemed all alone in the third place residency, he would have to acknowledge that Jett Lawrence was closing in, after fifteen minutes of action had transpired. It was around that point, when Eli seemed to drift to the outside when entering into the largest rhythm section; allowing Lawrence around while he descended to fourth. With the checkered flag flying thereafter, it was Tomac who seemed rather satisfied via his riding style, with the fourth-place result...seeking to fight another day, and continuing regaining the prowess of 2023.
