DYLAN FERRANDIS - GRIT 260 450SX

GRIT-260 | 450 SX

August 23rd, 2024 5:00 pm

With a circuit that closely resembled MXGP tracks now set to be embarked on, Honda's Dylan Ferrandis appeared motivated to show the entirety of the AMA Pro Motocross base his skills, aboard the newfound Honda motorcycle while stationed in New York on Saturday. The Frenchman had been proficient throughout the numerous occasions he'd raced the Unadilla circuit, and continued to showcase the same array of skills as time progressed in the first moto of the afternoon. He was on par with the sixth-place position through ten minutes of competition, and the same sort of momentum was sustained through the twenty-minute mark as well, where he remained just outside of the top-five. Ferrandis' consistency in regard to lap-times and mistake-free riding was admirable - and he remained within relative, striking distance of Jason Anderson as the final laps came to fruition. In the end, it was Dylan who claimed the sixth-place residency as he exited the raceway...which was a notable position to work from for the following round. As racers dashed into the opening corner for moto-two, Ferrandis was among the front-runners per se. He was eager and ready to make passes, which led to Cooper Webb being overtaken...and while he followed the rear wheel of Ken Roczen, the French rider would occupy third after the ten-minute mark had been surpassed. He hounded the German athlete, until a pivotal move was made amid "Screw-U," just following the halfway point. The acceleration was commendable by Ferrandis, and he appeared stellar within the second-place residency from that point onward. He was resilient while exhibiting excellent line selection when storming through the deepest valleys, flying from the summit(s) of obstacles with his engine pinned while constantly seeking faster lap-times. However, lap-traffic would come into play as the final minutes of action were set to take place - which enabled Honda's Hunter Lawrence to lessen the distance between he and the French rider. This created quite the problematic scenario for Ferrandis with the white-flag nearing, and on the final lap, a battle for the ages would take place! Dylan seemed to have the second-place position locked per se, but proficient line choices by Lawrence were enough to surpass him not long before the finish line! Dylan wouldn't give up, and stormed to the finish line within only bike lengths of the Australian...but it was too little, too late - and Ferrandis' admirable performance for this moto (earning third) was strong enough for fourth overall as well.
