Despite undergoing a bit of misfortune on a few occasions this year, France's Dylan Ferrandis was a top-tier competitor that had to be recognized. His talent had continued to ascend over the years, and the former champion was confident that he could still contend at the highest levels of the 450cc hierarchy. This was evident in practice, where his engine lugged among the deepest berms, and he never appeared as if he were in a hurry. His fluidity translated to fifth on the timing and scoring sheet, and a solid gate choice as well. Though his first lap of moto-one, was a bit less than desired after a mistake (acquiring twenty-second) would hinder his aspirations to move forward. Nonetheless, the French rider shifted into gear and never looked back, disregarding the enormous braking bumps that were planted along the raceway. Floating from roller to roller, he launched from the finish-line double and barreled into the left-handed sweeper with a wide-open mentally...generating applause from his mechanic as he stormed by. He was into thirteenth by lap seven, and proceeded to try and game-plan, his way past opponents like Harri Kullas, Garrett Marchbanks, and Malcolm Stewart. Each presented a challenging obstacle on their own behalf, but Ferrandis was persistent enough to overtake each of the aforementioned racers. Through the checkered flag, he was even trying to surpass Justin Barcia! But the GasGas rider was just out of reach, as the dust settled for moto-one...however, the crowd would applaud as Ferrandis exited the raceway obtaining seventh. For round number two, Dylans jump from the gate was exceptional - and he would shift his way through the transmission, to acquire seventh at the green flag. He was surrounded by top tier talent, and knew the process of moving forward wouldn't be easy...but the courage of Ferrandis was apparent. He plunged into the deepest berms while feathering the clutch to maintain optimal RPM, never sparing the engine, and in fact, used the full output of power as a means to gain ground on his opponents! Minute by minute, he chipped away...and surpassed Kyle Webster, along with Justin Cooper (for fifth) on lap eight. From there, he and Aaron Plessinger maintained a respective gap through the checkered flag - and though he couldn't overtake the KTM rider, Ferrandis' sense of determination was certainly acknowledged by fans from around the world. Ultimately finalized in fifth, his consistency over the course of the day would result in fifth overall, as well!
