DYLAN FERRANDIS - GRIT 239 450SX

GRIT-239 | 450 SX

Once again proving that his off-season moves were extraordinary, along with possessing the talent to run at the highest level(s) in the sport, France's Dylan Ferrandis was immediately listed as a top-ten contender from the moment practice began on Saturday. From flowing through the whoop section, to leaning the Honda chassis over at a phenomenal angle in the sand, the number fourteen instantly was categorized as one of the fastest athletes in all of the field. As the gates then fell for his heat race, the number fourteen avoided major mishaps and clusters of traffic to secure eighth on the opening circuit. He was fifth lap six and was distancing himself from the Yamaha duo of Tomac and Webb with only minutes remaining. Despite the commendable charge that Ferrandis put forth when rolling through bowl turns, and skating around the start straightaway sweeper, the charge of the previously noted tandem was too much to contain. Therefore Ferrandis had fallen to seventh for that of the white flag lap, still giving it his all when flying over the "SX" triple and leaping in a diagonal manner over the camelback triple of sorts. As engines ceased, the Phoenix Racing Honda rider was eager to return to the racetrack once more; believing that he could replicate that performance in the main event. Though the start was much less disastrous than what had occurred in the 250cc finalé, there was quite a bit of chaos brewing amongst the field in the first four corners or so. However, Dylan managed to storm away from the majority of it while garnering an initial standing of fifth...and then fourth, just a lap later! He would hold here, behind Eli Tomac and Ken Roczen...until the twelfth lap, when the Yamaha rider began to descend. It was as if Ferrandis could sense the lapse in speed from the former champion, and proceeded to pounce on the opportunity with as much throttle as possible when jumping into the corner after the finish line. Upon securing the position (for a few laps), Dylan was then overtaken by Cooper Webb. He wasn't going to go down without a fight, combatting the charges of Webb and Jason Anderson...and then Aaron Plessinger as well. Doing his best to force the Ohio native to various outsides, the late race charge of the red-plate holder was too much to suppress...therefore as the leaders, and final running order of the top-ten came to fruition, it was Ferrandis who stood with confidence in the seventh-place position.
