COTY SCHOCK - GRIT 247 250SX

GRIT-247 | 250 SX

Engines would rev throughout the afternoon, as athletes within the 250cc East Coast SX Championship were anticipating immense battle on the canvas of this particular stadium in Foxborough. They (the riders within the field) had encountered a multitude of tracks that had been marred by various elements in week's past...and were courageous enough to plunge into the rutted soil(s) of Massachusetts as practice commenced on Saturday afternoon. The whoops were already showing signs of decay after only a couple of sessions, leaving Yamaha's Coty Schock to believe that he must conduct lines of both skimming and jumping as the heat races loomed in the distance. Nevertheless, he prepared diligently and would eventually align on the grid for the second divisional round as the thirty-second board went sideways. It was a clashing of aggressive opponents, where he emerged at the green flag in the second-place position, following a brilliant leap from the gate, before zig-zagging his way across the start straightaway. The corner before the "SX" triple was an opportunistic place for him to gain time, where he sprinted down the straightened path beforehand before sweeping from outside to inside, cutting a rather precise path atop the face of the large obstacle while distancing his machine from that of Daxton Bennick and Tom Vialle who trailed. Landing with authority, he could sense that the KTM rider (I.e. France's Vialle) was going to attempt an array of inside moves in the switchback corners that were ahead. Luckily, his quick-witted plan of staying toward the inner-lane while pivoting amongst the following apex, was enough to thwart the plan of the former MXGP standout. This led to the white flag, where one lap separated him from clinching the second-place position...and with that designation, he exited the raceway with tremendous self-belief - reiterating that his prowess on the SX circuit was constantly heightening! Once into the finalé, the stakes were high between opponents like KTM's Tom Vialle and Yamaha's Haiden Deegan. But he gave little attention to the rivals, powering through the first four laps while leaning to his left and right at the height of second gear (amongst bowl turns, that is). With Deegan leading the field around, those outside of the top-three could only see the Yamaha rider from afar...but used the athlete, who held reign of the field, as a marker to see how fast they were going. Schock was mindful to not charge into the sand with too much weight on the front-end; as a troublesome wash-out had appeared only feat from the end of the differing section, that claimed a number of riders and forced them to the ground. Though it seemed, regardless of what was thrown his way, he executed with tremendous effort. He had conducted a pass on Nicholas Romano, while also inheriting a position due to Kawasaki's Seth Hammaker (who had crashed). Though again, once Schock had moved into the sixth-place position, he was as "rock-solid" as one could imagine. Mistake-free, composed, and calculated, the ClubMX Yamaha rider reiterated, that he was more than capable of competing at the highest level - via sixth overall, at the checkered flag.
