COTY SCHOCK - GRIT 243 250SX

GRIT-243 | 250 SX

As the tarps along the racetrack were pulled away, notable track conditions were presented given the amount of rain that the state of Alabama had sustained. Regardless of it were extremely muddy or dusty, however, Coty Schock was ready to excel aboard his Muc-Off/FXR/ClubMX Yamaha 250F. Clicking into gear for practice, he bombarded his way through the tapered rollers that had now taken place of whoops. With the design of the course becoming a bit more flattened per se, in order to correlate with the weather that had taken place all week. But Schock looked extremely well amongst the muck that still resided on the circuit, sliding through the flat turns with the rear wheel tracking to the outside of the front-end, using his weight as a means to direct where the bike went. This preceded the opening heat of the evening, where the field would thunder their way into the opening corner while every athlete fought for the smallest window(s) of opportunity. Immediately claiming first-place and taking the lead amongst the first few laps, he knew that remaining efficient while sustaining the longevity of his stamina, and keeping his heart-rate low, were key in generating a strong result by the end of the night. Minute by minute, the number sixty-nine machine remained at the front of the pack - proving that he could combat various factory riders, on the largest stage in the sport! And though Cameron McAdoo would charge to the rear wheel of Schock in the final stages, it was the Yamaha rider who claimed his first ever heat race win - via a brilliant display of speed, leading from start to finish! For the finalé, the rapid fire he displayed in order to position his machine at the front of the field was noteworthy, where he dug through the rut(s) before the finish line as clay flew from both fenders of his Yamaha, to arrive at the green flag around the eighth-place position. This was sustained for a significant amount of time, where he battled alongside Chance Hymas and Jalek Swoll, for a considerable duration within the moto. The grooves between landing and take-off were becoming deeper all the while, but had an unpredictable section of top soil that could cause the chassis to slide any moment - causing many to leap off track and near the tuff-blocks. Though even while being pressured from that of Haiden Deegan for what seemed like an eternity, Schock remained composed and focused on the current task...of claiming a single-digit overall finish by the time the race would end. The halfway point had passed, along with the three-quarter mark of the moto - which set the stage for a competitive ending to this 250cc main event...and as the margin between he and Deegan began to slim, the climax of the moto appeared to come to fruition in the distance. It was then, that the number thirty-eight (along with Schock) would meet in the final corner of the moto...and Deegan would block-pass the ClubMX Yamaha, over the berm, just before the finish-line takeoff! Forced into an eventual standing of ninth, Coty was forced to rekindle as many positions as possible as he concluded the moto. But with Deegan's previously penalty being put forth, the athlete aboard the number sixty-nine machine claimed eighth in the final running order - which concluded his tremendous performance in Birmingham.
