COOPER WEBB - GRIT 250 450SX

Believing that he could contend for the championship, despite only a few races remaining in the series, Cooper Webb pushed through adversity, injury, and a challenging rival (i.e. Jett Lawrence) to excel in the state of Colorado. It began in his heat race, where a second-place start left him trailing only Hunter Lawrence on the first lap of competition. Though Webb's vision located an opening, and saw the opportunity to overtake the Honda rider before the second circuit was completed - via an inside to outside maneuver, to begin a long rhythm section...which forced Lawrence to let off, of the throttle, nearly coming to a halt while Webb took the first-place residency. From that moment onward, Webb wasn't fazed by anything going on around him...and proceeded to storm to the checkered flag where he garnered an eventual heat race win! Once shifting into gear for the finalé, Webb did everything possible to try and combat the intensity of Jett Lawrence... but his (Cooper's) start to the main event was less than desired. Webb's standing in the latter half of the top-ten (i.e ) seventh wasn't what the North Carolina native had hoped for. However, with rhythmic hopping through the whoops, he made his way into fifth after around five minutes of action completed. His thumb (from a practice miscalculation that seemed to re-injure the joint) was certainly compromised - but within the fight for the championship, he remained strong. He could sense that Chase Sexton was approaching quickly and did his best to cause the Illinois native to divert...but the KTM rider wasn't going to stop pursuing his rear wheel, which caused a brief passed to be made among a rhythm lane and then the right-handed corner immediately thereafter. However, a wash-out by Sexton caused him to crash, and subsequently Webb would slightly hit him as he was downed...but at low speed, which enabled Sexton to get up quickly. As a result, Webb regained control of fifth while eyeing the checkered flag in the distance. He was aware of the presence of Justin Cooper approaching quickly in the final moments, but even with the rookie now within close proximity, Webb wouldn't collapse. He pushed forward with the injured thumb, and eventually crossed the finish line (rolling the final double) with fifth-place earned, respectively...while looking toward the finalé to once again contend for the overall championship of the 2024 450cc SX division.
