COLT NICHOLS | GRIT-233 | 450 SMX
Seeking to portray his best efforts on this hybrid racing circuit, Muskogee, Oklahoma's Colt Nichols would be a resilient athlete throughout the overcast conditions of practice, where he continuously presented astounding lap-times amongst names like Jett Lawrence, Chase Sexton, and countless other world-renowned competitors. The soil in Joliet was nearly perfect, with a darker, potting soil mixture that was perfect for agriculture being used as the base in which riders competed on; promoting traction in nearly every facet, prior to beginning the two-race main event sequence that followed. Once there, Nichols' exhaust would spew outbursts of fume and accompanying power as he dove into the first corner shortly thereafter, flat-tracking his way into forthcoming corners that would then allow him to settle the chassis amongst peg-deep grooves. The explosiveness his Kawasakicarried when exiting various corners would be incredible, as his rear wheel would ricochet amongst various bumps that had been dug to immense acceleration by he and his fellow racing comrades. Around the ten minute mark though, it seemed as if he'd established a pace within the standing of twelfth and settled into a groove per se that could be sustained until the checkered flag was thrown. In the laps that followed, he certainly monitored the distance between he and Jason Andersonwho was competing amongst paralleled section(s) behind him, but nothing could deter him from ultimately being recognized in a final position of twelfth. The second coming of 450cc battling was next to be displayed, and Nicholswould emerge from the chaotic sequences of the first five minutes (or so) around a position of tenth. Flying over the inbound double (when working his way to the finish line) countless scrubs were displayed on his behalf as he attempted to infiltrate a position near Aaron Plessinger(who was ahead), all the while claiming eighth in the running order! Yet even with tremendous effort, the constant surging and extra bits of charging were to no avail as they neared the fourteenth minute of action. Time was precious at this point, therefore any mistake in the final moments of action would result in a subsequent loss of positions that couldn't be regained...but the staying power of Nicholswas immaculate - and as the final bell would ring, his Kawasakiimachine would be registered within a position of eighth; which kept both, Yamaha's Phil Nicoletti and GasGas' Justin Barcia at bay despite intense pressure being applied from both veteran riders! This equated to tenth overall in this SMX playoff event; while looking ahead to the concluding round on the West Coast, in the immediate future.
