Chase Sexton had excelled at the highest level in recent weeks, and aspired to repeat those efforts while stationed in Unadilla. The KTM athlete was incredible throughout qualification, and shifted into gear for the first race of the afternoon, with immense ambition. A strong start to begin the opening moto would position Sexton in contention, for the second-place residency as the first lap progressed. However, Hunter Lawrence was a competitor that couldn't be denied - and forced Sexton to third, as he completed the first full lap of the contest. Though the Illinois native then proceeded to charge in the direction of Aaron Plessinger, who had formerly held the lead...and would eventually overtake his teammate, before five-minutes of action had concluded. He was second, but appeared to significantly close-in on the Australian as they surpassed the halfway point...and Sexton would actually make the move (for the lead) just before the flyaway tabletop! However, as he struggled to pull a tear-off from his goggle lens, Hunter Lawrence would counter and surpass him once more! Sexton wasn't going to let the honor of winning slip away that easily though. A near-endo when closing in on the two lap board (among the multitude of ruts) would generate a dramatic gasp from the crowd...but Sexton somehow managed to stay upright while persistently tracking-down the number ninety-six machine. The battle would wage through the checkered flag...but Sexton wasn't able to muster the combination of lines that were needed to overtake the Honda rider en route to the finish line, ultimately earning second as the dust settled. For moto-two, his reaction time and accompanying shifting points were perfect. He would narrowly edge Cooper Webb for the initial race lead and immediately put forth an incredible array of lines, while sprinting away from the field. He appeared to be unstoppable as he accelerated through the array of lines on the Unadilla canvas, with laps beginning to blend together with fluidity while the crowd cheered. Minute by minute, it seemed as though Sexton were on a path to the checkered flag...and throughout the duration of the thirty-(plus)-minute contest, the KTM athlete couldn't be deterred. In the end, Sexton's moto victory emphasized his skill level and confidence that he currently possessed...which accompanied him to the top of the podium, for a prestigious overall victory!
