The Illinois native was eager to perform in front of numerous friends and family, with St.Louis being considered a home venue of sorts for that of Chase Sexton. He was acclimated to this soil, and appeared in-tune with the racetrack as practice came to an end in the afternoon hours. As the field then aligned on the grid for the opening main event, the number one of Chase Sexton was stuck within a position of jam-packed riders that was considered rather chaotic. The climactic point to the aforementioned chaos, then occurred at the end of the rhythm section, just before the course perpendicularly crossed the start straightaway. It was there, on the first lap, where Mitchell Oldenburg's mistake created a pile-up that cost many of the top-contenders valuable time. Including Sexton, who crashed to the ground! He was in twentieth at the end of the first lap, and was forced to climb through the field with all of his might in order to gain points. Minute by minute, athletes like Freddie Noren, Colt Nichols, and Justin Hill would be overtaken. Every position mattered, and as the checkered flag was thrown at the end of the fourteen-lap contest, Sexton occupied a standing of tenth, not far behind Justin Cooper. For the second main event, he initially began the trek in fourth...but would be passed by Cooper Webb shortly thereafter. A series of subtle mistakes resulted in Jason Anderson passing him as well, but with crashes on behalf of both, Webb and Justin Cooper, the number one would gain two positions. The number one appeared to be solidified in third (after making a pass in the final minutes on Jason Anderson), until receiving a penalty along with countless other members of the top-ten...which was due to jumping on a red cross flag at the finish line - which resulted a concluding standing of fifth being established. He hoped, to put the chaos behind him for that of round three - and would do so, by beginning the moto just behind Eli Tomac. He kept Cooper Webb at bay for a significant portion of time, until a miscalculation on the takeoff of the "SX" triple before the following rhythm lane resulted in a doubling of the aforementioned three obstacles...which solidified Cooper's advancement, and sent Chase to third. Once there, the KTM rider remained upright to the finish line, garnering fifth overall in the process and again, gaining a bit of points on that of series leader Jett Lawrence.
