Honda's Chase Sexton wasn't going to go down without a fight, and would prove that his tenacity was second-to-none as he sped onto the racecourse in the Northeast on Saturday. Sexton's speed was on point, and proceeded to reside second following the conclusion for practice; which seemed to ignite a fire and sense of motivation that had to be acknowledged as the gate(s) fell for the first moto of competition. It would be Jett Lawrence who initially had "the jump" on the rest of the field as they crossed the metal brackets, however Sexton would soar around the outside with a never-ending charge before launching from the initial anthill that followed! Sexton seemed to decisively occupy the lead, but the number twenty-three would somehow managed to be out-powered by Lawrence upon landing from the aforementioned jump...sliding to second though determined to stay with the red-plate holder. Sexton's momentum was exceptional amongst the myriad of berms, bouncing from wall to wall with his Honda motorcycle absolutely pinned. He would then keep that speed amongst rollers of straightened path(s) and bends of varying angles, racing with his torso above the bar-pad and standing atop the foot-pegs in a charging stance. He would manage to narrow the gap between he and Lawrence on a number of occasions, only seconds from the rear wheel of the Australian times...but just when it appeared that Sexton could make a definitive passing attempt, Lawrence would pull away. And eventually, Sexton would lose touch with Jett as they neared the checkered flag, weaving amongst lap-traffic eventually to accrue second in the running order as the checkered flag waved. His initiation to the following moto would begin after hovering around the top-five position(s), before quickly making his way past Aaron Plessinger for third; and having his sights set on Dylan Ferrandis in second. Ferrandis would maintain the runner-up position until just near the twenty-minute mark, when Sexton's will to move forward couldn't be nullified - and the number twenty-three would power around the outside upon the straightaway of the mechanic's area, with a bold move that embodied speed and velocity! Now into second, the game-plan was then to try and track down that of his teammate as quickly as possible...but that goal would be hard to conquer with how well Lawrence was riding. Lap after lap, Sexton exhibited every bit of energy possible while looking to move ahead of Jett, but it was to no avail. Therefore as the checkered flag waved on the sixteenth lap of action, it was Sexton who claimed second and resided in second overall, as well.
