The ascending trajectory of Honda's Chance Hymas was undeniable. The racer from the state of Idaho had shown numerous instances of incredible speed thus far in the 2024 250MX series, and continued on that path as lines formed on the raceway that hosted the eleventh round of the current championship. Though registered alongside a multitude of superb competitors, Hymas was fearless as he blasted from the starting line and dove into the opening segments of moto-one, competing for second-place alongside Yamaha's Jordon Smith while pursuing KTM's Tom Vialle. Though after relentlessly charging, between the halfway point and twenty-minute mark, Hymas would begin to lessen his pace...losing positions to Jordon Smith and Ty Masterpool. All the while, Ken Roczen was beginning to hound his rear wheel - and would attempt to overtake him with the final laps of the moto coming nearer. But Hymas defended his position from the veteran, and proceeded to also try and keep RJ Hampshire at bay. The Husqvarna rider, would be one of the fastest athletes in the field...and proceeded to bombard Chance with a barrage of lines that were difficult to combat. As Chance tried to nullify the inside pathways of the Floridian, R.J. would swing to the outside...and do the opposite as Hymas moved to the outer boundaries of the raceway. The effort was commendable by the Idaho native, but it wasn't enough to keep Hampshire behind his rear wheel when the checkered flag was thrown. Also of note, was the position that Chance once gained (due to a crash from Ty Masterpool) would be lost as the Texan returned to overtake him (Hymas) once more before the checkered flag. And with the constant shuffling of positions among the top riders in the field, it was Hymas who clinched the sixth-place result before exiting the raceway. In the following moto, Chance's opening lap position (of second) was applauded by the crowd. But Haiden Deegan was approaching quickly, and surpassed Hymas on the fourth circuit which forced Chance to descend to third. Though he was ready to capitalize if either of the two leaders (i.e. Vialle or Deegan) began to descend...and that's exactly what would occur, on the tenth circuit. Hymas could sense that Vialle as beginning to fade, and quickly pounced on the second-place standing with a brilliant pass on the French rider. From that point onward, Hymas did his best to try and minimize the gap between he and Haiden Deegan, which was evident with the speed(s) that the Honda rider was showing. In the end though, Hymas would be forced to obtain the second-place residency - which, when paired with his first moto score, helped him obtain second overall!
