Few in the 250cc division would wow the crowd more than Idaho's Chance Hymas. The Honda rider immediately put forth a stellar effort in practice, where he qualified fourth amongst the total roster of 250cc opponents...and his confidence was rising extremely high at that point in time. Once shifting into gear, he would gather an initial standing around the fifth-place margin for the waving of the green flag, but inherited fourth, after Jordon Smith had made a mistake. At this point, he could sense that a veteran of sorts, was all over his rear wheel...and the distinct Triumph engine was indicative of only one competitor in that regard, otherwise known as Joey Savatgy. The race-craft of the long-time professional was evident when Savatgy swept through a multitude of corners, holding onto the throttle a bit longer than most in many situations, which generated attention on behalf of Hymas' mindset. However, Hymas wasn't folding - and put forth a tremendous line of defense where he kept the number seventeen at bay for the duration of the moto. The gap would be extremely thin at times, spanning only a few seconds, or even bike lengths for that matter, which made line choice critical when weaving through lap traffic. But Hymas remained present and in the moment - calculated with his line choices, throttle control, and shifting points, while occupying the fourth-place residency. And as all concluded for this fifteen-lap contest, the number forty-eight would cross the line in the aforementioned position just off of the podium...but with a penalty being given to KTM's Tom Vialle, Hymas was declared third before rolling to the line in moto two! He was in contention for a high-profile finish, if he could gather a respectable result in the second going as well. And after starting ninth, while working his way into seventh by lap four, Hymas continuously sought to gain even higher positioning within the running order. With Jo Shimoda making a mistake on the seventh circuit, Hymas inherited sixth...while noticing that Nate Thrasher was beginning to fade. Overtaking him as well, he occupied fifth while heading into the final third of the moto. Jalek Swoll, as well, appeared to be a bit tired as the checkered flag neared...and the Idaho native was strong enough to capitalize on the mistakes by the Triumph rider, to occupy fourth when approaching the moto's conclusion. Ultimately finalized in fourth (for this moto), Hymas' performance at Fox Race was spectacular - and equated to a tremendous accolade of fourth overall, as well.
