Honda's Chance Hymas would have numerous performances throughout 2024 that displayed his true talent on the motorcycle...and the round of Philadelphia was no different. The Idaho native's talent was evident as he powered through the course on Saturday, displaying zero hesitation as he executed rhythm sections with precise RPM, and the perfect tempo to combine tripling combinations together in perfect synchronization. This set the stage for the heat race that followed, though his starting position (of around thirteenth) would be rather difficult (for most) at his experience level, to work from. Hymas immediately put his head down per se, and began to charge through the pack with unwavering confidence. Zig-zagging from section to section, he was missing the largest bumps in the sand pit, along with the tallest portions of various lips (to save time through the air). Hymas was proficient while working his way into single digit territory, charging to the rear wheel of both Gage Linville and Kyle Peters in the final stages of the moto. Though there was little time remaining, Hymas proceeded to pass both opponents of the Southeast, and work his way into sixth as all concluded. The solid gate choice was salvaged for the Honda athlete, providing a notable sense of momentum for the number forty-eight machine as the green flag waved for the main event. Scrubbing his way over the finish line double on the opening lap, he would do his best to navigate forward from an opening standing of seventeenth. He was into the top-ten by lap seven, staying calculated while constantly scanning the track for the fastest lines. He, Coty Schock, and Daxton Bennick appeared to be on a similar trajectory when passing the halfway point...but Hymas tenacity was an attribute that couldn't be quantified. It was intangible, and was portrayed with his relentless charging through the deepest ruts, and the numerous instances of body English that emphasized his control and aspiration to move forward. Gaining positions on behalf of crashes for that of Seth Hammaker, Jalek Swoll, and Pierce Brown, the standing of sixth appeared to be his with one lap to go...however, Hymas was adamant in regard to overtaking Coty Schock - and with the Yamaha rider just feet ahead of him, the final pass (for fifth) would be secured! And sustained through the checkered flag, for the Honda athlete amid the introductory season(s) of his professional career!
