The opportunity to garner a position atop the standings at a venue like Lucas Oil Stadium, was something that few in the sport could fathom. Racing at this level could be arguably be considered the highest of demands in all of two-wheeled racing, create an environment of immense competitiveness as gates arose throughout the 2024 Supercross season. That notion was sustained as action began in Indiana on Saturday, with Honda's Chance Hymas (who sported a Ricky Bobby replica gearset) demonstrating expertise while navigating through the earliest ruts of qualification sessions. His ability to plant and remain seated amongst the apex of corners undoubtedly helped him distance his overall lap-time from the majority of the pack, finalizing the latter round with confidence before exiting the raceway. He would carry a palpable sense of confidence to the gate for main event one, and upon leaping from the grate, he immediately aimed for the inner-most point of turn number one. Though difficult, he managed to gather a standing just outside of the top-fifteen In the laps that followed while constantly clawing for a furthered position forward. Doing his best to sustain a flow and smooth rhythm amongst the whoops, he would dodge the steepest edges while remaining light on the foot-pegs of his machine; rounding the corner thereafter with an aggressive feathering of the clutch to dig the rear wheel into the soil, while also keeping the front end from climbing too high. There was little room for error on this circuit, but he managed to push the envelope while minimizing mistakes, which led to ninth being scored in the record book(s) before moving onto the second main event. His execution of the opening circuits in the second main event would be noted by all in attendance, with his abundance of effort being portrayed with revving through the highest points in the air. He was determined, and would steadily pull away from Nicholas Romano who pursued him as they toppled the six-minute mark. Lap after lap from there onward, was a means of milliseconds, between he and the adversary aboard the Yamaha machine. But he ultimately prevailed, and despite being passed by Pierce Brown in the latter stages, he would acquire a tremendous score of fifth at the checkered flag. For the finalé in the three-race sequence, he was unfortunately involved in a first turn crash alongside Haiden Deegan and Max Anstie. This deterred him to nearly last position in the opening sequences, but the rider from Idaho refused to give up as he charged forward to an eventual standing of eleventh. The accumulation of finishes were exceptional, and promoted him to eighth in the final standings, amongst a stacked roster of competition.
