Upon advancing to the AMA Pro Motocross Championship, the number 166 of Casey Cochran has certainly proven that he possesses elite level talent. His trajectory thus far had been incredible, and following a notable practice effort in Minnesota, his outlook for the moto's that followed appeared to be on the same path! After battling Haiden Deegan for the hole-shot designation in moto-one, Husqvarna's Casey Cochran was displaying excellent speed while residing in single-digit territory. Though overtaken by a few opponents, Cochran remained resilient while contending with athletes such as Ty Masterpool. He (Cochran) was sixth, when nearing the ten-minute mark - and would nearly go down, after almost colliding with Ty Masterpool in mid-air, just before the rollers! Though he fortunately remained upright, and retained the seventh-place standing. His speed throughout the rest of the moto was commendable, and as he underwent battles with fellow veterans, Cochran would only lose positions to competitors like Max Anstie and Jordon Smith, earning ninth as the checkered flag waved. He avoided the chaos of turn number one in the second round, via a phenomenal jump from the gate(s) and initial race lead! The rookie was superb, and took advantage of the troubling conditions by remaining smooth, amongst the first laps. Though a number of top-tier contenders were just behind him, Cochran wasn't rattled. He was confident and appeared to be in total control of his chassis as it dug through the sloppy, Millville circuit. He was constantly ascending, and appeared to feed off of the competitive environment which was known as Spring Creek. Hearing the cheers from the crowd, it seemed as if this were just another race for the Floridian...and he continued to establish an impressive pace at the pinnacle of the pack! Though as laps progressed, and the checkered flag neared, Cochran appeared to have company...in the form of an adversary by the name of Levi Kitchen. But Casey was putting forth a stellar line of defense, and combatted the charge of Kitchen when nearing the twenty-five minute mark of the moto! However, just before the final five minutes were undergone, Kitchen's line at the top of Mt. Martin (via an inside rut and wheelie over a single) was enough to overtake Cochran...and he was fortunate to nullify the head-shake of his Husqvarna machine, as he charged across the downhill with a bit of (respectful) retaliatory action! He tried to refute the pass by Kitchen, but it was to no avail..and instead, he still resided in admirable second-place standing. He (Casey) ultimately resided here as all would conclude, and the spectacular runner-up moto finish, was enough for him to clinch third overall, in the final standings!
