CARSON MUMFORD | GRIT-230 | 250MX
Returning to the Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki squad for the latter stages of the AMA Pro Motocross Championship, California's Carson Mumford would be willing to race at the highest of speed(s) in order to secure contract(s) in the future. The talent for the Simi Valley native was undeniable, and he had proven, time and time again, that he was an elite racer in this division...and after beginning the first-moto in fifteenth, the line of fire in which Mumford was under for the first fifteen-minutes of action would be hard for many to comprehend. Mumford was battling, scraping shrouds, and banging bars alongside riders like Levi Kitchen and Austin Forkner...before the red-flag that is. However, following the full-grid restart, Mumford would find himself inside the top-ten; as high as eighth, just behind Tom Vialle. Scrubbing atop "Henry Hill," Mumford would manage to weight the outside foot-peg just enough, to stay at the bottom of the outer berm; tracking with tremendous velocity amongst the outside wall while grabbing gears (and upshifting) as he leapt atop the step-up in the moments thereafter. Floating down the drop-off thereafter, Mumfords means of attack as he revved the Kawasaki motor passed the mechanic's area would be unbelievable...and a means of how hard he was charging, while seeking to pass Levi Kitchen. And as the number forty-three sat in the crosshairs amongst the final three minutes of action, Mumford would do enough to move around and in front of Kitchen once and for all...which was a notable feat, given how fast Kitchen had been flying within the outdoor championship! As the checkered flag was thrown, it would be Mumford who scored twelfth, amongst the one-of-a-kind circumstances of the first moto. Not long thereafter, would the field suit-up and storm into the first corner once more, with Mumford residing in a similar position to what was previously sustained for the opening moto. However, it was the perseverance and ability to continue climbing (while preserving his stamina) that was the notable narrative to this second-moto plot. It seemed as though when others became tired, Mumford would elevate; continuously remaining empowered and focused on the task at hand as the elements of heat, a deteriorating track, and mental lapses (of his competition) would occur. He would land on the throttle when leaping atop the swaying step-up on the far side, powering into the forthcoming left-handed corner at the highest RPM's of third gear - and carried that flow into the "S-Curves" that followed while passing, Daxton Bennick, Julien Beaumer, and Levi Kitchen...putting a definitive "stamp" of sorts, on an emphatic performance in the state of Maryland, where he scored eighth in the final moto, to corral seventh overall!
