CADEN BRASWELL | GRIT-226 | 250MX
Known as a specialist in the sand, the rookie amongst the professional series would find success in the sand(s) of Massachusetts on Saturday. Caden Braswell had been excelling at events of all magnitudes since last year's Loretta Lynn's Amateur National, and recently generated a ride with the top-tier Troy Lee Designs Red Bull GasGas Team. And the number 243 would prove as to why he's considered one of the fastest rising competitors in the 250cc division, after qualifying into the main event(s) and beginning the first moto in sixteenth. The action would be chaotic as the first few laps of the race came to fruition, with riders moving every which way in order to try and find smooth lines. The racing was electric, and many in the crowd could instantly see the patterns of Braswell as he blasted his way through various outside berms near the fence-line! The louder the fans seemed to cheer, the faster Braswell became - which led to a multitude of passes being made before the fifteen-minute mark of the moto came to pass. He would battle with the veteran, Jimmy Decotis, for quite sometime; before making the move around the Massachusetts native on the seventh circuit. Next to come, would be Husqvarna's Talon Hawkins - where with precision, he too would overtake the Californian in the laps thereafter. He seemed to continue rising as others fatigued, remaining light on the rear wheel while wheel-tapping his way through rollers that were reminiscent of whoops! He began to see Max Vohland in the distance as the checkered flag also appeared, and as he charged his way into ninth, his final score for the moto would be applauded and labeled as a platform to work from for the second moto. His opening lap placement for round number two, was that of thirteenth, just ahead of Yamaha's Daxton Bennick. He and Bennick were replicating one another's lines, and flying out of various valleys aboard their 250F's while seeking to move forward amongst the back. He would obliterate the corner before the finish-line as it had been freshly plowed with the dozer blade, using all of the power in his engine to explode amongst the outside with force, before scrubbing the final double time and time again. This would lead to an eventual final score of eleventh - which was just ahead of Bennick as the final flag was thrown, leading him to an astounding tenth-place overall!
