AUSTIN FORKNER GRIT-227 250MX

AUSTIN FORKNER | GRIT-227 | 250MX

The return of Austin Forkner would be highly anticipated by many in the industry, with the Missouri native forced out of competition due to an injury sustained in the initial moments of the Supercross opener this year...and the determination of the Kawasaki rider couldn't have been higher as practice began at the Spring Creek facility, with Forkner steadily acclimating to the "race pace" and riders of high caliber that were around him. He and his team seemed to address every facet of the raceway before embarking on the first moto, where Forkner narrowly avoided trouble in the opening corner to generate fourteenth by the time lap number-one concluded. The Kawasaki rider was processing a multitude of variables when speeding through the Minnesota terrain, trying to remain composed all the while making moves and doing his best to eliminate mistakes. The number fifty-five would find himself immersed in fierce battles with Talon Hawkins, Caden Braswell, and Preston Kilroy. Charging down that of Mt.Martin, Forkner's tenacity was evident as he refused to apply the rear brake until the last second; riding the outside wall-berm for as long as possible around the forthcoming right-handed corner. Maneuvering like this would propel him to twelfth with around one-quarter of the moto remaining, where Forkner's veteran-like aptitude would prevail over that of Braswell, Ryder DiFrancesco, and Daxton Bennick. He would inch closer and closer to KTM's Maximus Vohland, but the Missouri resident was unable to move around the number thirty-four prior to the checkered flag begin thrown...but still, he and his supporting crew could be proud of a hard-earned eleventh-place performance. The second round of racing wasn't long thereafter, and Forkner's opening lap stance of tenth, would be a platform to work from as the track immediately began to break down. He would travel to the far edges of the course in search of smooth lines, continuing to portray the newfound techniques that'd he worked on in recent months. Scrubbing the "Chadapult" time and time again, he launched atop the step-up triple thereafter with fearlessness as he and Haiden Deegan would compete amongst one another for quite sometime. He would eventually follow the number 238 to the checkered flag while keeping Daxton Bennick at bay, accruing a second moto score of ninth, for an admirable ninth-place overall for his return to racing action.
