"March Madness" certainly translated to the racing environment in Seattle on Saturday as well. With the course being unrecognizable compared to the initial blueprint that was configured in the off-season. Mother Nature had poured precipitation throughout the metropolitan area, and as a result, created a sloppy canvas for these athletes to race upon. Nevertheless, France's Anthony Bourdon bombarded the competition with a surplus of speed while revving the engine of his Suzuki machine throughout day-time qualification. He made the process of sliding through corners while seat-hopping various doubles look easy, creating a forecast for the night show that was slated to excel regardless of what the atmosphere in Washington encompassed. With little room for error, he immediately shifted his weight to the rear of the motorcycle in heat one as he barreled from the gates...looking for a means to make passes in bundles, while the field came to a near-halt in the opening infiltration of the whoops. The assortment of singles before the whoop section were a means to double if at all possible...and he nailed the combination time and time again despite balance beams filling the transitions. Eventually as all came to a close, the French rider would score a final standing of fifth (in front of Robbie Wageman) before entering the main event. Aspiring for a solid finish once the green flag was waved in the finalé, Kawasaki's Levi Kitchen would lead the field around while Anthony gathered a standing of tenth. Tuff-blocks were nearly clipped on both boundaries of the track while he scanned for the smoothest territories, with the middle section(s) of the course now deteriorated with gigantic lines. Up and over the finish line double, he proceeded to blitz across the start straightaway and into corner across the course with a means of rampant aggression. There was no time to waste, as Ryder DiFrancesco pursued him with an intense, charging mentality that could be heard with overt revving via the engine of his GasGas engine. Despite Ryder getting around him (Bourdon), in the laps thereafter, many in the crowd could gauge the gap between the competitors as they leapt onto the tabletop just near the finish...and as he jumped off the plateau, and into the final three minutes of action, it appeared as if the eighth-place position was going to be his. Eliminating mistakes, and keeping his momentum as he lunged toward the checkered flag was crucial - as those errors were nullified, an advantage over Tennessee's Nate Thrasher was gained. With Bourdon thriving well-after the final bell would ring, his final result (of eighth place) continued the remarkable streak of finishes he'd garnered thus far.
