AARON PLESSINGER - GRIT 237 450SX

AARON PLESSINGER | GRIT-237 | 450 SX

Arguably one of the best "mud specialists" in all of the series, KTM's Aaron Plessinger would seek to put his specialties on display once more as back-to-back accumulations of precipitation were on tap for rounds two and three of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Series. He was engaged with how the track was developing, processing the changing landscape every lap through qualification as he scrubbed the tabletop before the finish-line. Making sure to downside every double and triple that were in front of him, he was calculated when landing amongst transitions - otherwise a subsequent wash-out or fish-tail of the rear end could occur...and that process translated to heat two as well, moving as far forward in the pack as possible after garnering seventh gate pick. His reaction time and cornering through the first few bends would be excellent, which led him to the rear wheel of Ken Roczen. Plessinger's whoop speed and ability to power through the deepest much were incredible attributes, and one's that "AP" seemed to engage at just the right time...as after going back and forth with the Suzuki rider, the Ohio native was solidified in the lead at the conclusion of lap three! With a multitude of lines now at his disposal, Plessinger seemed to thrive with an open race track - eventually powering forward to the lead after leaping past the checkered flag with victory! The two heats, and LCQ format would converge for the initiation of the main event...and "AP" could be found battling inside the top three, and after stalking Barcia's rear for a few laps, he made the move in the left-handed corner before the longest rhythm section on the track! Somehow managing to press forward amongst the endless muck, it was then a matter of tracking down the Suzuki of Roczen. He would constantly press forward, to the point that Roczen would make a mistake over the camelback triple (just after the finish line) and crash! This gave Plessinger the lead, which he amplified over Barcia, via tremendous doubling and tripling combinations (i.e. before the whoops especially). Minute by minute in the portions thereafter, it was a process of staying mistake free while Cooper Webb would somehow manage to close the distance. Even with the laps beginning to inch near the finish, Plessinger held strong under fire - combatting the charge of the Yamaha rider, as he eventually made his way to the checkered flag...surrounded by cheers from the crowd!
