KTM's Aaron Plessinger was sensational when competing upon the pristine soil of round twelve in the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Series. Transitioning from practice to the trio of main events thereafter, the Ohio rider appeared to be excelling in every facet as he took the opening green flag. He was third, but quickly advanced to second after a mistake from Hunter Lawrence...where now only he and Eli Tomac were contesting one another for the reign of the field per se. The KTM rider was incredible amongst the ruts, attacking the triples with a maneuver of compressing the forks, that had him flying at an extremely low trajectory. He was using his frame to soak-up the unnecessary air-time, which enabled him to nearly racing alongside Eli Tomac, at times. However, Jett Lawrence was approaching rapidly in the final moments of the moto - making a move on the KTM rider, via an outside pass in the corner before the finish line with just over two minutes on the clock. Now third, he would reside there through the checkered flag...with his sights set on the moto that followed as well. Beginning the following moto in eighth, his advancement to the top-five was rather slow and methodical in comparison to some of the brilliant runs he'd put forth thus far in the championship. He and Jason Anderson would contest one another for a remarkable amount of time over the sixth-place standing (after he'd passed Shane McElrath), but the Kawasaki rider was able to evade and distance his machine ahead of Plessinger after the halfway point. "AP" wasn't going to give-up though, and inherited a position as Justin Cooper's crashed sent him outside of the top-five. Though passed by Cooper Webb in the final bit of action, too, Plessinger's final result of eighth (after being given a penalty of two positions), was enough to keep him in contention for a solid overall score. The fight for sixth was evident as the third moto came to fruition, with Roczen, Malcolm Stewart, Shane McElrath, and Plessinger all fighting over a position just outside of the top-five. Through persistence and critical thinking amongst the ever-changing track, it was Plessinger who passed both, McElrath and Stewart while trailing Roczen to the finish line at the end of this fourteen-lap quest - and as Aaron choreographed a final standing of sixth, his overall accumulation (of fourth) was considered an exceptional feat given the magnitude of competition in the 450SX class.
