The KTM athlete was once again a favorite for the crowd in Indianapolis...as he resided in the state of nearby Ohio throughout his youth. Therefore those in attendance roared as Aaron Plessinger was introduced, and he managed to embody that intensity as he rolled to the line for the opening main event of the evening. Beginning the sixteen-lap contest in eleventh, he had moved up to a definitive placement of ninth by the time circuit number four arose...but Malcolm Stewart and he would proceed to partake in a battle that the crowd cheered over - with both athletes giving it their all! It seemed as though on the eighth circuit, that Plessinger's aptitude was enough to surpass the Husqvarna rider once and for all...leaving him in eighth while pursuing the rear wheel of Justin Barcia. All the while, an unfortunate crash from Cooper Webb would enable Plessinger to inherit another position in the running order - which placed him seventh, with only a small portion of time remaining. With pressure arising, and the window of opportunity shrinking, "AP" was then able to bombard Barcia with an array of lines that couldn't be thwarted - making a pass on the New York native before the checkered flag was waved, for an eventual finish of sixth. In the following main event, Aaron immediately contended for the lead position while battling with Ken Roczen and Jett Lawrence! After nearly taking the pinnacle designation, he would (briefly) be passed by Jason Anderson and Cooper Webb. Though he retaliated with immense offensive power of his own, racing toward the checkered flag with his mindset solely focused on gaining even more position(s). He would eventually work his way around Anderson after the halfway point, and then set his sights on surpassing the Yamaha (of Webb) before the moto came to a close. It was then, when Plessinger's charge was too much for Webb to disregard - making the pass on the twelfth circuit, with a brilliant move in the outside of the sand solidifying the position! Now fourth, he eventually resided here while carrying momentum into the latter round. He began the first full lap of action in eighth, but would pass Justin Cooper for second as the following circuit had subsided. Into sixth in the moments thereafter, he would overtake Justin Barcia (as well) to then pursue Jason Anderson (who was fifth). But Plessinger's slight miscalculation in the whoops (where he and Anderson appeared to briefly come together), caused the momentum for the Ohio native to be derailed...though luckily, the incident wasn't too costly, and as Aaron returned to form immediately thereafter, he would race with the utmost intensity to acquire ninth - which translated to a well-respected sixth place overall.
