AARON PLESSINGER - GRIT 230 450MX

AARON PLESSINGER | GRIT-230 | 450MX

With the Budd's Creek track being rather reminiscent of his GNCC roots, KTM's Aaron Plessinger would flourish as the muddy conditions would slowly transcend into deepening grooves throughout the morning hours on Saturday. "AP" would use his tall stature to wheelie over countless pot-holes and overlapping ruts, which carried into the first-moto of action as well...and Plessinger's role of occupying second (as the green flag waved) would be just a notch or so, below the pace of Adam Cianciarulo (who led). "AP" was exceptional in the deepest off-cambered corners, where he leaned the bike with precision while keeping Justin Barcia and Garrett Marchbanks at bay. However, it was Jett Lawrence who was on the move (from around the fifth-place position) and proceeded to catch the Ohio native...which motivated Aaron to ascend to an even higher velocity. This would lead to a pass by Plessinger, just before ten minutes had transpired, amid "Henry Hill." Aaron's charge to the inside, while CIanciarulo went wide, would be enough to secure the lead in the corner that followed...with the number eighteen still persistently pursuing him. Plessinger's stance within the leading designation would come to an end after a solid fight for the number-one ride, just near the mechanic's area at around the sixteen-minute mark in the moto...where Jett Lawrence would narrowly edge forward, and Plessinger would have to oblige. But the surges of speed on behalf of his opponents wouldn't be done there, as Jason Anderson would leap past the KTM rider after closing-in on Plessinger's line just before "Henry Hill" with around four minutes left on the clock. Now third, "AP" would have no choice but to use every bit of power and energy possible with the checkered flag now becoming tangible...but Yamaha's Dylan Ferrandis would then want to compete and contest the Ohio native, with less than two laps to go. It was just thereafter the largest anthill (that was just after the finish-line) where the French rider would out-power the KTM rider when diving into the left-handed circuit thereafter; pushing the number seven to the outer bank of the track, while forcing Aaron to relinquish third. Now into fourth, Aaron would reside here before exiting the raceway while looking ahead to the second moto. Once the action began in the latter afternoon stage, "AP" could be found battling amongst the top-five after powering through the outside lane of the roller section before the finish-line...where he followed Adam Cianciarulo, Justin Barcia, and race leader, Jett Lawrence. Passing Cianciarulo, he would simultaneously be overtaken by the number twenty-three of Chase Sexton - which allowed Barcia to distance himself a good bit, before approaching the ten-minute mark of the moto. The battle between Barcia and Plessinger would span to roughly the twenty-fourth minute of action, where Aaron's line upon the largest down-hill triple (on the inside) would be the epitome of constant pursuit - where he decisively made the pass on the GasGas rider before scrubbing the following tabletop, and securing third. Once there, he would have to defend the retaliation of Barcia on multiple occasions while weaving through lap traffic...but in the end, it was enough for Plessinger to eventually solidify the third-place residency; where his consistency across both moto's would equate to a finalized silver medal on the overall podium!
