AARON PLESSINGER | GRIT-221 | 450MX

KTM's Aaron Plessinger had faced serious adversity throughout the Supercross Championship, but appeared to be firing at the highest of rates as he sped onto the track Saturday morning for timed qualifying. He would keep the front-end light as he manual(ed) his way through rollers and braking bumps alike, which portrayed a sense of complete control that couldn't be forged. And that notion translated into the first moto of action as well, as all involved in the 450cc field were pursuing Jett Lawrence. Plessinger resided fifth though, just behind Cooper Webb prior to making a move on his teammate before the completion of lap three. He then held this designation while pursuing Chase Sexton and Dylan Ferrandis who were ahead, until an off-balance move of sorts would have him washing-out atop the far side hill and last right-handed corner before returning to the infield area. He would only lose a position to Webb, but would catch him in the laps thereafter while returning to the fourth-place residency. However, another critical error would have Plessinger slamming to the ground with less than five laps remaining; as he approached the Monster Energy step-up while tracking down Dylan Ferrandis! He would (at that point) swing to the outside and attempt to bypass a lapped rider when he appeared to slam into an absolute wall of mud! This sent him flying off the bike and into the fifth-place position, as Cooper Webb passed. Unfortunately he would run out of time prior to being able to pass Webb before the finish line, and resided fifth as all concluded for moto one. However in the following round, Plessinger would begin fifth and made the pass on the North Carolina native (once and for all) before the fourth circuit was over. This would lead to him attacking the rear wheel of Dylan Ferrandis, for what appeared to be an eternity! Outside to inside, and inside to outside, the KTM rider would flow amongst various ruts around the track...all in hopes of passing the number fourteen for good while trying to track down the tandem of Honda's who led the field around. But throughout the fifteen-lap contest, Plessinger wasn't able to make an assertive pass on the French rider. Which had him solidified in a solid fourth place position, to claim fourth overall just ahead of Cooper Webb in the final standings.
