AARON PLESSINGER | GRIT-214 | SX 450

Vowing to overcome his unfortunate crash while leading last weekend, KTM's Aaron Plessinger would immediately engage in a phenomenal pace by the time practice began on Saturday afternoon. He refused to waste time by patrolling the raceway and scanning for smooth lines, and instead, would burst forward with one-hundred percent effort while jumping amongst grotesque ruts of all sizes. His chassis would be compressed more often than not, with his lanky frame standing atop the foot-pegs while he blitzed through the whoops and accompanying rhythm lanes. And that mantra would translate into heat one, where his unwavering competitive spirit would thrive. It was evident that he wanted to push his number seven machine to the top of the leaderboard, scrubbing through the two longest rhythm sections on the track while in the second position. The Ohio native was just ahead of Adam Cianciarulo, but began to distance his machine from the Kawasaki as the first three laps were completed. It was evident that Plessinger's confidence was next level, as he doubled his way through the subtle sand rollers before scrubbing the accompanying ant-hill with blistering momentum! It was like he refused to slow down when charging forward upon his KTM chassis, shortening the gap between he and Christian Craig as the final two minutes of the moto came to fruition. And on the white flag circuit, the gap would shrink even more, where the two training partners would nearly converge in the corner before the whoop section! But Plessinger's inside line wasn't quite enough to overpower the Husqvarna athlete, as he was then forced to reside runner-up before the finalé began. The stage for the roughly twenty-one minute contest was now set, with Plessinger striving for a position inside the top-ten as lap number one was underway. There was little room for error on this marred circuit, with transitions, tabletops, and the whoop(s) now deteriorated with lines; but Plessinger's vision (and GNCC background) would allow him to find subtle nuances (of speed) that others couldn't locate, promoting him to tenth with only two minutes of racing action completed. He would steadily move around that of Justin Hill and Christian Craig, hoping to latch onto Justin Barcia and Jason Anderson who were just in front of him. But the number seven machine couldn't rekindle the speed that was generated in Detroit, despite the conditions of Seattle being adverse. Even as they approached the halfway point, he remained in seventh and eighth place vicinities; battling briefly with Adam Cianciarulo before making the move on the fourteenth circuit. Nevertheless, Aaron would remain positive and on track for a solid finish as laps continued to dwindle, never becoming discouraged despite his performance last week in Michigan. And as the twenty-three lap contest concluded, it was seventh place that would be cemented for the Ohio native; where he yearned to rebound higher in the weeks to come in the AMA SX Championship.
