AARON PLESSINGER- GRIT 228 450MX

AARON PLESSINGER | GRIT-228 | 450MX

Believing that he could rekindle his speed from the earliest rounds of racing this year, KTM's Aaron Plessinger would roll onto the Washington racecourse with a feeling of excitement and anticipation. The Ohio native's versatility on a multitude of racing surfaces would flourish in an environment like this, and after leaping throughout the hillside for practice, there was little to doubt in regard to him excelling for both moto's of the afternoon. Nonetheless, "AP" would fly through the first few laps of the opening round of competition in seventh, looking to swiftly move amongst the finish-line area shadows with stellar speed while attempting to track down the race leaders. His execution of the corner after the mechanic's area would be profound, where a flat-tracking style maneuver was conducted for the rear wheel and he would speed onto "Horsepower Hill" not long thereafter with immense momentum. His focus was torn between two objectives, however, albeit simultaneously toggling between offense and defensive mindsets...where he was determined to catch Ty Masterpool, while also hoping to distance his machine from Garrett Marchbanks who trailed. Regardless, the former 250cc champion would yearn to embody as much speed as possible when entering into the infield chicane on laps nine and ten; nullifying his braking points to the utmost extent, while looking ahead to the final stages. And despite displaying brilliant style aboard his KTM 450, Plessinger couldn't seem to overcome small errors and develop an uptick in speed that was needed in order to break into the top-five...therefore he would finish seventh, but undoubtedly sought redemption for moto-two. It was Plessinger who had accrued strong jumps after both of the starting sequences (even with the unfortunate restart), and on the second occasion, would quickly pass Dylan Ferrandis to lead the first lap of competition! Plessinger looked extremely fluid while keeping Jett Lawrence and the rest of the field at bay, and eventually led three laps in total while exhibiting a sense of speed that was hard for many others to rival. However, it was before the finish-line to complete the fourth lap of action, when Lawrence would solidify his move; pushing Plessinger to second. "AP" wasn't going to give-up that quickly though, and engaged with the likes of Chase Sexton for as long as possible. Though the number twenty-three was able to make his way around in the minutes thereafter, it was Plessinger who showcased resiliency and fortitude throughout the rest of the contest - keeping the flurry of runs on behalf of Jason Anderson and Dylan Ferrandis nullified...en route to an incredible third-place second moto score, for fifth overall!
