A provision in an Ohio House bill that could have made it difficult to determine how motorcycle rider safety training funds were being spent was deleted after several motorcycling organizations complained, the American Motorcyclist Association reports.
The AMA, ABATE of Ohio, the Ohio Motorized Trails Association and others told state lawmakers that the provision was a bad idea because motorcyclists wanted to ensure that the funds are used for motorcyclist safety training. Lawmakers removed the provision from the bill, and then on Feb. 28 the full House approve the bill, sending it to the Senate for further consideration.

With an average of 542 entries over the five round series, the Texas Winter Series showed a 21% growth from 2012 to 2013. The riders were the biggest benefactor with better competition and the addition of another top notch facility (Underground MX Park) in the series. If not for rough weather for Round 2 that plagued Village Creek, the series was headed for an even bigger average.
Many have been asking where to find full gates and the Texas Winter Series again showed this is the series to be in. Riders from 27 different states (Alabama, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, N. Carolina, Nebraska, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, S. Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Washington, Wisconsin and Mexico) came to battle for over $300,000 in factory contingency, product and certificate series sponsors.
The American Motorcyclist Association expressed concern to a U.S. House subcommittee about possible damage to motorcycle and all-terrain vehicle engines caused by the inadvertent use of E15 when the new fuel becomes widely available.
In testimony to the House Subcommittee on the Environment during a hearing on "Mid-Level Ethanol Blends: Consumer and Technical Research Needs" on Feb. 26, Wayne Allard, AMA vice president for government relations, said that motorcycles and ATVs should be part of any scientific study into the effects of E15 on engines to ensure that the new fuel blend won't damage those engines.

A sold-out crowd of nearly 70,000 attended round eight of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship series this weekend in Atlanta, GA. Honda riders had a respectable showing with Team Honda Muscle Milk’s Justin Barcia placing fourth and teammate Trey Canard finishing fifth in the 450 Supercross class. It was also the second round of the East 250 class and Muscle Milk-sponsored GEICO Honda’s Wil Hahn lead wire to wire in the main event, clinching the first victory of his career.
Justin Barcia had a noteworthy ride aboard his Team Honda Muscle Milk CRF450R, finishing just shy of the podium in fourth place. Following a second place finish in his heat race, Barcia launched off the line in the main event to a seventh place start. He quickly made his way into fourth only a few laps in and spent the remainder of the race trying to take over third but was forced to settle for fourth.
“Overall the night went okay,” stated Barcia. “This is basically my home race so I was really hoping for a podium finish but it is an improvement from last weekend. I felt good in the main and stayed close to (Davi) Millsaps but was never able to make a solid attempt at a pass. I know what we need to work on and am ready to head to St. Louis.”
