It’s been almost a year since we’ve seen the familiar #25 of Brandon Mays out on the track. After a devastating neck injury in January of 2008, the New York rider made his return at the Winter National Olympics where he won all four Youth 12-15 classes. That momentum was slowed last March where just into the Lake Whitney Spring Classic a hand injury ended his week early. Furthermore, Mays was forced to sit out Loretta Lynn’s this past summer having missed the qualifiers after getting shoulder surgery. Mays, who has made a habit of stellar comeback performances thus far in his career, is poised to make another at the 2010 Lake Whitney Spring Classic. This time, however, it will be in the hotly-contested A classes. Only time will tell how he will fare, but B Mays is ready to hit the track once again.
1) First off, where have you been? The last national we saw you at was almost a year ago at Lake Whitney.
Well, I’ve been back home in New York recovering from my neck always locking up. My neck healed, but then my doctor said the only way he was going to let me ride was if I got my shoulder fixed. So, I did that and now I’m back in the same spot I’ve been for who knows how long now. Just doing what I do and making another come back. Now the story goes on…
2) Tell us about your physical condition now. Are you 100% healed up now and are you ready for the Spring Nationals?
I’m healed up 100 %. I can’t say that I’m completely ready for the spring nationals. Mentally, HEAL YEAH I am, but cardio wise…I’m tryin, I’m tryin.
3) You’re moving up to the A classes for 2010. What are your expectations moving into the new season?
Title after title. Nothing more to say.
4) You’ve been training at MTF for a number of years now. How is your program different this year now that you’re making your final transition in the amateur ranks?
It’s been good. I’m struggling a little bit after going from doing nothing for 9 months to then back at it and training everyday, but hey, I ain’t scared.

"I can’t wait to go pro…straight up gonna hold her even more pinned."
5) Give us a rundown of your current sponsors and tell us about any changes that you have for the new season.
All sponsors are the same…and I’m still makin it rain!
6) Where are we going to see Brandon Mays at the end of the 2010 season?
I don’t know, you tell me. (laughs)
7) Finally, it’s been rumored that you’re putting together a rap album…what can you tell us?
I guess some rumors are true, I mean there has been enough about me quitting lately. But ya, the rap scene has been good. I’ve met a lot of people over the last 9 months and I’ve been working with Battle Roy from Bad Boy, Geradamore and Deecoy. Watch what’s goin down…you guys are gonna love it and I hope y’all support it too.
