Austin Howell, the 18 year old amateur motocrosser from Red Bluff, Calif., is set to make his AMA Pro Motocross debut on Saturday at the legendary Unadilla National in New Berlin, New York. Howell has just completed a successful amateur season aboard his Rockstar Makita Suzuki RM-Z450, finishing second in the 450 A class at Loretta’s this past week. Now Howell is set to make his Pro debut on the Rockstar Energy Suzuki RM-Z450 under the guidance of both Brian Noah, Suzuki’s Amateur Motocross Support Specialist, and Bill Keefe, Team Manager for Rockstar Energy Suzuki.

The big news out of Hurricane Mills, Tenn., this past week was Cobra Motorcycles sweeping all of the 50cc titles at the 29th running of the AMA Amateur National Motocross Championships, presented by AMSOIL, at Loretta Lynn’s Ranch in Hurricane Mills, Tenn.

The 2010 Amateur National Motocross Championships were held this past week at Loretta Lynn's Ranch in Hurricane Mills, TN. In the eyes of most if not all, including your's truly, this race is the pinnacle of amateur motocross. To even be allowed to compete at the Ranch, you must first qualify at an area qualifier, then follow that up by qualifying through a regional championship race. If you are one of the talented few to actually make it, you better bring your A game.

In celebration of 50 years of doing business in the powersports industry, WPS and Fly Racing recently completed construction of an on site motocross test track and proving grounds at its Boise, Idaho headquarters. “We needed a more efficient way to test and develop Fly Racing products that allows us to gather instant feedback,” stated Craig Shoemaker, President and Owner of WPS and Fly Racing. “Having a motocross track right here at our Boise facility will not only enable us to develop new products easier and bring them to market quicker, it also allows us to conduct our own photo shoots on sight.”

American Honda Motor Company’s Powersports Division announced today that Cooper Webb, a 14-year-old Honda rider, has been awarded the AMA Youth Motocrosser of the Year Award. Once a year, this honor is granted to the top youth competitor who not only demonstrates an ability to perform on the track, but is also judged to be a role model among his young peers. Cooper has repeatedly proven that he meets all these requirements and so he was selected to receive this prestigious award.

Ricky Carmichael was on-hand at the 29th annual AMA Amateur National Motocross Championships at the legendary Loretta Lynn Ranch in Tennessee this past weekend. RC was excited to sign autographs for the young amateur motocross riders and future racing heroes. While he was there, Carmichael also took an opportunity to be the first rider to throw his leg around the recently announced 2011 line-up of Suzuki motocross machines. “The bikes are fantastic and the engineers did a great job building winning motocross machines with the RM-Z250 and RM-Z450,” Carmichael stated.
