Zane Merrett: First off I want to thank everyone with the Motoplayground crew Harold, Greg, Wes kain all the trainers and video photographers. I had a great time at Camp Boom Diggity, it was the best year ever, there is an amazing fireworks show, the best pit bike race in history and the water slide was the best slide I've ever been on! I also had a great time getting beat at dodgeball tournament by some girls but it's all good and I can't wait till next year !
MP: What's your plans after Lorettas?
Zane Merrett: My plans after Loretta Lynns is to get ready and prepped for monster energy cup and do a couple local races down here but mainly just do some super cross training and preparation and then Mini O's will be the next national after that
MP: How did you first get started racing dirt bikes?
Zane Merrett: I first started riding when I was six years old and I was playing football at the time also I told my dad I want to do motocross instead and it's been history since I didn't take it serious until 2013 the first year I made it to to Loretta Lynn I saw what it took to be a champion and how much hard work the top guys were doing so I told myself I had to do that work hard work harder than anyone else and do whatever it takes to be the guy on top of the box my first bike was a KTM 50 in the first race I've ever raced was at Village Creek MX for the turkey bowl on Thanksgiving day I pulled the whole shot and took the checkered flag I won my first race and then for the second Moto I fell the first corner and got Second in the Moto and got the first overall
MP: What other things do you like to do in your free time, besides ride dirt bikes?
Zane Merrett: During my free time I like to hang out with all my family and friends and I do a lot of BMX and I like to go hit big dirt jumps and go to the skate parks and just have those fun time with my friends
MP: Being apart of the Yamaha Blu Cru is quite an honor, what's it like to be backed by such a supportive program?
Zane Merrett: I am so thankful to be part of the whole Yamaha Horton racing Blu Cru team it gives me so much confidence and the support is so great I couldn't really ask for anything better. This year my results haven't been the best at all the races, I've had some ups and downs but next year will definitely be my year and I'll do everything it takes to be on the box every Moto at all the nationals. Hopefully next year I'll be with a Yamaha on the Horton racing crew again it is an amazing crew and such great team to be apart of.
MP: If you could describe yourself using one word, what would it be?
Zane Merrett: Motivated.
MP: What's the most challenging obstacle that comes with racing?
Zane Merrett: The most challenging part on training is pushing yourself to the limit and then pushing yourself even more and harder to be the best and do it over and over every day and still having fun at it I think that is the hardest part and the most challenging part on training and motocross
MP: Out of all the tracks you have rode on, where is your favorite place to ride?
