Monster Energy Team Green Kawasaki elite Mitchell Harrison has been busy banging bars in the Arenacross Lites class, racking up a pair of heat race wins as well as a big main event victory in his home state. Making Michigan proud, Harrison battled his way to the top spot on Saturday night in Grand Rapids, etching his name on the Road To Supercross winners list. With an undeniable amount of steam behind him, 2015 is Mitchell's for the taking.
MP: Mitchell, thanks for taking the time to talk with us! Congrats on the win on Saturday. Let's start with last week. You burst onto the Arenacross Lites scene with a big heat race win and ended your first main just inside the top ten. Take me through your first night in Arenacross.
Mitchell Harrison: Thank you! It felt great to be on the top step of the podium! I started the night off really good with a heat race win and I was feeling really confident coming into Arenacross. I felt really prepared and ready to take on a new challenge. Going into the main, I felt like I was the one to beat. I got an alright holeshot and worked my way to third but the guys in Arenacross are very aggressive and it took me a while to get used to that. I ended up crashing and taking ninth but it was a good first night. I learned a lot and that's all I can ask for.
MY EXPECTATIONS ARE TO WIN, I'M ON THE BEST TEAM AND I AM ONE OF THE MORE PHYSICALLY FIT PEOPLE OUT THERE SO THERE'S NO REASON I SHOULD NOT BE WINNING.
MP: After two solid weekends, you've got to be feeling super confident. You've proven you have what it takes to battle with some of the fastest up and comers in Arenacross. What're your expectations from here on out?
Mitchell Harrison: My expectations are to win. I'm on the best team and I am one of the most physically fit people out there so there's no reason I should not be winning.
MP: Things have went very well for you since your change to Kawasaki. Monster Energy Team Green Kawasaki is one of the most prestigious teams in the amateur circuit. What's it like to be a part of a team like this?
Mitchell Harrison: It's a huge honor to be part of the Monster Energy Team Green program. They are very hard working and very professional and I love the Kawasaki's! I cant thank Ryan Holiday and the rest of the crew enough for believing in me. Them picking me up definitely tells me that I have what it takes to win!
MP: You have a ton of loyal sponsors that have been behind you for quite some time now. Who all would you like to thank for making 2015 possible?
Mitchell Harrison: I would like to thank my Mom and Dad, they have always been there for me! Monster Energy Kawasaki Team Green, Pro Circuit, Fly Racing, Scott Sports, Asterisk Knee Braces, Dunlop, Atlas Neck brace, Alpinestar, Renthal, Georgia Practice Facility (GPF), Ogio, Maxima Oils, Uni Filters, Motion Pro, PSD Underwear, and Nihilo Concepts.
