Training at MTF is the #83 Yamaha rider of Lorenzo Locurcio from Venezuela. Lorenzo has been turning up the heat in California showing the west coast he means business by bringing home a championship in Open Pro Sport. Now that the California classic is over it's back on the grind training for Loretta's. We got the chance to catch up with Lorenzo to see what his plans are for the rest of the year.
MP: You raced at the California Classic walk me through your weekend there and how it went. Lorenzo Locurcio: We decided to adventure the west coast I've never been in California until the classic so it was good we went a week early to know all the tracks and tourism alittle bit it's definely different than east coast but it was fun I enjoyed racing was good I came away with a championship in open pro sport (2-1-1) and got a second in 450 A ( 7-1-1) then in 250 I had some up and downs finished 6 overall . It was a different experience and environment it was cool to do something different and I'm glad my parents where there with me helping me out and giving me anything I needed to succeed
Lorenzo Locurcio: My goals is go out and win Loretta's I am trying and giving my all to get good results and put my self in a good position and get picked up by a team so I can progress into the pro ranks , I plan to do areas regionals Loretta's maybe mammoth MP: How did you first get into racing motocross? Lorenzo Locurcio: My dad used to race and me and my uncle got into riding we would go out on weekends and ride for a bit I was learning my uncle was bigger than me he was in 60s I was in a pw50 we did it just for fun at the time we didn't even thought what we got ourselves into lol . My first race was when I was 4 years old and my first bike was a PW50 MP: Talk about growing up in Venezuela and how the moto scene is there then your transition to coming to the United States. Lorenzo Locurcio: Riding back home is nothing like this we only ride one once maybe twice during the week and on the weekend and the tracks there's no ruts only few tracks there's water but other than that it's pretty simple you go out there and do motos and that's about it you go to the gym and stuff but it's nothing like here you need to be more fit here and you can trust more in the corners you got actually something to grab on the transition was tough over here they're way faster and I wasn't really fast I got real fast about 2 years ago I stepped my training up and just training with like Jordon smith Anthony Rodriguez Keith tucker and lots of more good riders it took me a lot but we're trying to make the best of it and keep getting faster and faster MP: What other things do you like to do in your free time besides racing? Lorenzo Locurcio: I like to just rest and of course hang out with my friends and family I like to play cod and FIFA and I work on bikes a lot. MP: Describe yourself using one sentence. Lorenzo Locurcio: Not perfect but committed MP: Finally, who would you like to thank for helping you out?
