Hailing from New York is the #61 of bLU cRU Yamaha backed athlete, Justin Cooper. Justin made his debut at the Ranch in College 16-24 and Two Stroke 16+, Bringing home the gold in both classes. We caught up with Justin to see what his plans are for the rest of the season.
could train at facilities, I enjoy training by myself and seeing my progression. Now that I have graduated high school I plan on taking training to another level since I have more time and I'm excited to see where that takes me. But for now it's just me, my dirt bike, my road bike, and the local gym.
MP: Let's talk about Loretta's. You captured the title in Two Stroke 16+ and College 16-24. How does it feel to see your hard work paying off?
MP: Give us a recap on your week at lorettas from racing, to hanging out in the pits, to swimming in the creek.
Justin Cooper: This year at lorettas there wasn't to much fun for me. I knew I needed to go out and make a statement. When you put that pressure on yourself, you are all business once you get there. This year was the hottest year there for me, those first couple of days at the ranch were brutal, you couldn't escape the heat out on the track, making it hard to cool down after the race. I had to run to the river a couple of times after my motos because I couldn't cool down any other way
MP: What's your plans for the rest of this year?
Justin Cooper: The rest of the year I plan to do the Northeast Regional Championship at Winchester speedpark, Kawasaki race of champions at raceway park, the vurb Classic at mx207 and mini os. I might switch it up a little and try a GNCC at unadilla and have some fun, but other than that I'm just going to continue to train like I have been and keep working towards my goals.
MP: How did you first get started in this sport of racing dirt bikes?
Justin Cooper: My dad got me into the sport when I was 4 years old with a little Suzuki 50 and I've loved riding ever since. My dad was a local expert in his day and made me what I am today. He taught me the basics and I've been doing my best ever since. I don't remember my first race, but I can guarantee you I didn't win it because I was at a huge disadvantage on that Suzuki haha
MP: Aside from racing, what other things do you like to do for fun?
Justin Cooper: If I'm not riding/ racing, I like to play basketball, fish, or go snowboarding
MP: Out of all the tracks you have rode on, where is your favorite place to ride?
Justin Cooper: I have ridden many tracks all over the country and if I had to pick a favorite it would be monster mountain in Alabama or red bud in Michigan just because the leap is so fun to hit. I'm sure my favorite track will be unadilla's pro track once I ride it
MP: If you could describe yourself using one word, what would it be?
Justin Cooper: Determined
MP: Finally, who would you like to thank for helping you out?
Justin Cooper: I'd like to thank Yamaha, Rock River, Alias, 6D, Scott, Dunlop, PR2, Limited Decal, Slakawear, and my whole family for the support.
