Jordon Smith has seen a few podiums over his years as an amateur. Chances are you could blindfold him, walk him up to virtually any track's podium, and the man could tell you which national steps he just walked seeing as how he has won all over the map. The Geico backed Honda rider is busting into the pro ranks this year and could be the team's East coast insurance policy. After countless hours spent at MTF which recently resulted in qualifying amongst the top five in the premier Arenacross class, Jordon's confidence could be at an all time high. With an unspeakable talent and intense work ethic, Smith's 2015 season is shaping up to be one to remember. With the recent success of fellow competitors who moved on before him, Jordon is chomping at the bit to hit the Supercross starting gate in Texas.
Jordon Smith: Yeah the Arenacross Series was a pretty cool experience. I had pretty good qualifying times for all three rounds. I learned a lot but I'm happy to get out of there safe and move on to Dallas and the rest of my rookie season!
MP: Now that you've completed the Road to SX, what's your take on the program as a whole?
Jordon Smith: The program as a whole is a pretty cool experience. You have to come in and not underestimate the riders of Arenacross. They are really fast and really good at what they do. So you definitely have to come prepared and be smart while you are there.
MP: What's next for you Jordon? You've busted out to a great start for 2015. Where is the next place we will see the Geico Honda on the line?
Jordon Smith: It is pretty great working with the entire team at GEICO Honda. The group of people they have there is great! They are very supportive and make you feel welcome on the team! The bikes are amazing and are really always getting better! Everytime I turn around we have something new to try and make the bike better.
MP: Describe Jordon Smith in one sentence.
Jordon Smith: Jordon smith is dedicated at his job and also likes to have fun when he's not racing.
MP: You've been hard at work at MTF for quite some time now. Tell me what it's like training at such a facility and what have you been doing there to prepare for Arenacross and Supercross?
Jordon Smith: Yeah MTF is one of the best training facility's in my eyes. They have everything that any racer needs there and they also have tons of experience to help us throughout our career. I have a ton of respect for Colleen, Bryan, and Tony. They push me to my limits every day and make me the best rider I can be. For Supercross and Arenacross, I have just been riding the supercross tracks at Colleen's and preparing the best I can!
MP: You've racked up quite a resume throughout your tenure as an amateur motocross racer. Which event or major wins sticks out the most to you?
Jordon Smith: Obviously to anyone who has won a title at Loretta Lynn's, their title sticks out to them a ton and same with me. My first title there means a ton to me. One week that also stands out to me beyond everything else is the 2012 Mini O's. Winning nine out of ten of the classes I entered that week was very special!
MP: Who are all of the fine people supporting you and making your race effort possible?
Jordon Smith: First, I would like to thank the man above. Without him none of this would be possible. My entire family for being with me through my whole career and supporting me. They mean a lot to me and I can't thank them enough. GEICO Honda, AMSOIL, Alias, Factory Connection, 6D Helmets, 100% Goggles, EVS, DVS, Alpinestars, Dunlop, Renegade, MTF, Under Armour, and both of my mechanics Ryan and Justin. If it wasn't for all of those people and others that have helped me through my career, it would be impossible for me to be where I am today!
MP: Thanks a ton for your time Jordon and good luck in 2015! Looking forward to more big things from you as you take the next step!
Jordon Smith: Thanks for the interview! Talk to you guys later!
