Joey Crown, rider of the #35 Kawasaki backed by Monster Energy Team Green Kawasaki is on the prowl. Joey recently raced at Redbud, dominating the 250 B , Schoolboy 2, and Open B classes. Crown has been training and getting prepared for his next national at Mammoth where he plans on riding smooth consistent laps straight to the checkers. We sat down with Joey to see what he's got planned for the rest of season.
MP: Last weekend you raced at Redbud, how did it go?
Joey Crown: Last weekend went pretty good I raced 250 B, Schoolboy 2 and Open B. I was able to get the overall in all the classes. The weekend before I raced at Bulldog Mx and they had a 2-stroke money Moto and I was on my kx 125 against a bunch of 250 2-strokes. I was able to get a fourth place start and made it to second on the first lap but the leader had a nine second lead so I had to put the hammer down and catch him once I caught him we had a pretty good battle then I was able to come away with a win & some $
MP: Describe motocross using one sentence.
Joey Crown: The most physically demanding sport there is.
MP: How did you first get started in this sport and what made you want to stick with it?
Joey Crown: My dad used to race pro and I just wanted to be like him. So he said when I take my training wheels off my bicycle I could ride a dirt bike. So when I was 3 years old I Took the training wheels off my bicycle and then he got me a dirtbike to start riding. Then when I turned 5 my dad let me start racing, and once you get in this sport it's hard to get out of it.
MP: If there is one race you can go back and change which one would it be?
Joey Crown: I would like to redo the second moto in the 65 10-11 mod class at Loretta Lynn's in 2010. The reason why is that my fuel boiled and it ended up costing me the championship.
MP: what else do you like to do in your free time besides racing?
Joey Crown: In my free time I like to drive RC cars, BMX, and mountain biking. In the winter, I also like to snowboard.
MP: What's your plans for the rest of this year?
Joey Crown: This year I plan on racing Mammoth Mountain, Lorettas, Walton the Canadian national, Baja Brawl, and Mini Os. My goal is to be up front battling for championships in the B class.
MP: I know you have some people helping you out, give them a shout out for all they do for you.
