Hailing from Minnesota is the athlete of the #29 Honda known as Henry Miller. Henry made the long haul back to Minnesota after Spring Nationals to stay on his training and get as much gate time as possible. Last weekend he raced at Millville bringing home the overall win in all of his classes, 250 A, Open a, and 14-24 A. Miller is looking to redeem himself this year at Loretta's and is putting in the work, both on and off the bike to help him get prepared. We caught up with Henry to see what he's got planned for the rest of this year.
Henry Miller: Well after the spring nationals I came home to Minnesota and I actually got together with Christian Craig and his physical trainer John Wesseling so I have been with them working out and riding we have been killing the 2 hour road bike rides and lots of mountain biking and we get in the gym to do a gnarly core work out at least once a week depending on the weather!!
MP: Talk about your last race and how it went.
Henry Miller: The last race I did was memorial weekend at Millville in Minnesota and it was sweet Saturday, the track was perfect and the weather was great but come Sunday soon as the first motos started it started raining so it turned into a little mud but it was lots of fun I raced 250 A, open A and 14-24 A and won all three but I had to work for the open A win, I had to battle with Teddy Mair for a lap or two but it was all fun, then Monday rolled around and it was looking really muddy from it raining all Sunday but once the races got going track shaped up to be super sick but I only raced the open A and 14-24 A and I won them both that day to!!!
MP: What's your goals for this year?
MP: How did you first get started riding dirt bikes?
Henry Miller: My dad got my sister a little Jr Suzuki 50 and she never rode it so I was always riding it around the yard when I was 6 so my dad took me to a local race and we ended up buying a polini junior 50 and I raced it the next weekend and I got last but it was so fun so I kept with it and the next race I got 4th out of 20 and got a trophy and I just fell in love with the sport!!
MP: In your free time, what else do you like to do with your free time besides racing?
Henry Miller: I like to hang out with friends in my free time and love to go rip the mountain bike trails and I like to try and golf but I'm not so good at it but I have fun with it!!
MP: Motocross comes with many different obstacles, whether it's bike problems, injuries, or the the mental aspect of it. What's the most challenging thing that comes with racing for you?
Henry Miller: The most challenging thing for me with racing seems to be when I line up for a national I always seem to get arm pump and no matter what I do it won't go away that is the hardest thing to deal with!!
MP: If you could describe yourself using one word, what would it be?
Henry Miller: I would have to say generous!!
MP: Out of all the different tracks you have rode, where is our favorite place to ride?
Henry Miller: My favorite places had to be underground in Texas it's such a sick track bike jumps, gets rough and gets awesome ruts it's just a awesome track and facility.
MP: finally, who would you like to thank for helping you out?
Henry Miller: My mom, dad, sister and all my grandparents, fxr racing, scott goggles, oak hill marina, buddy brooks, storm lake Honda, 6D, Ti-lube, factory connection, yoshimura, Hinson, 139designs, renthal, and twin air all these people help make this happen for me thanks to all you guys for the support!!
