KTM Orange Brigade backed athlete, Daxton Bennick is working hard both on and off the track to show he is a title contender. His results are showing he his on his way to the top as he won a total of 11 out of 12 motos last weekend at Silver Dollar Raceway. We sat down with the part time freestyle rider to see what he's been up to lately and to see what he's got in store for the rest of the season.
MP: Your last race, where was it and how did it go?
Daxton Bennick: I just races the Vurb Classic this past weekend and I won 11 of 12 Motos. I won the overall in the 50 (7-8), 50 (open) and the 65 (7-9).
MP: Sounds like your hard work is paying off! What's your plans for the rest of the season?
Daxton Bennick: I'm planning to do some testing on new KTM's and getting everything dialed in and ready for Mini O's!
Daxton Bennick: Racing and freestyle are a lot different. Timing is different and the ramp gives you a lot more pop than regular jumps. No, I haven't crashed doing a trick!
MP: Besides Racing, what else do you like to do in your free time?
Daxton Bennick: Our family spends a lot of time on the lake. I learned to wakeboard this year and I love it. I'm trying to get good and learn some tricks. My other favorite things are riding my scooter and mastering tricks on the trampoline.
MP: You're on the KTM Orange Brigade, talk about being on the team and what it's like to have that kind of support.
Daxton Bennick: Being on the Orange Brigade team, is one of the most awesome things I could talk about. To know that they believe in me, makes me wanna do even better and represent myself and KTM as well. We had our East Coast Orange Brigade camp at my track in July, and the whole team came swimming at my house after training! KTM does a lot of fun things with us as a team, and makes us all feel like a big family. Having that support on and off the track is something I am very thankful for.
MP: Motocross can be both mentally and physically hard on a rider. What's the most challenging obstacle that comes with racing for you?
Daxton Bennick: Baja Acres! We went for the first time this year and it was awesome.
MP: Talk about your first time there and what made it your favorite track.
Daxton Bennick: Baja Brawl was super fun. We had never been there before and it was a long 11 hour drive for us, but worth it. The track is soo sick! I think it should be a national! I won the 50 open and the 50 (7-8) class, got 2nd in the 65 (7-9) and 3rd in the 65 (7-11). All the fun stuff after Motos was awesome too. The pit bike race, the wheelie boyz, and belly flop contest were all fun to out and watch with everyone. But my favorite was probably the whip contest! One day, I'm gonna win that!
MP: Finally who would you like to thank for helping you out?
Daxton Bennick: As always, I thank the Lord Jesus Christ first and foremost! Also my mom, dad and family. KTM, Orange Brigade, Dunlop, Thor, Scott, Bell, Leatt, Alpine Stars, Nihilo, EVS, FMF, Braap Supply, Dubya, DT1, Radmx, Neely Racing
