KTM Orange Brigade backed athlete, Luke Purther has been on the grind training for the upcoming worlds largest amateur motocross national held at Loretta Lynn's next week. We caught up with Luke to see what he's been up to lately and how he plans to dominate at Lorettas.
Luke Purther: I do most of my training at home and at local tracks. My house is where off the bike training takes place, mountain biking, rowing, and cardio. I've never visited a gym but plan on starting soon.
MP: You came to Camp Boom Diggity, what was your thoughts on the camp?
Luke Purther: My experience at camp boom diggity was AMAZING, man I went 2 years ago and thought it couldn't get any better. Well they pulled it off and made it even more awesome! Such a great time with great people!
MP: What's your plans for the rest of this year?
Luke Purther: Get ready for Loretta's, And possibly the monster energy cup following after. I hope to podium at both of these races.
MP: You have been a part of the Moto scene for quite sometime now, tell us where it all got started.
Luke Purther: I first got started racing motocross when I was 7 years old. I chose motocross because me and my dad would sit and watch Ricky Carmichael, that is when he bought me my first bike, a pw50. I did laps around my yard on it until my dad noticed I had a natural talent at this. My first race took place at Racetown 395 on the pw and turns out I took the win. Fast forward to 2015 and now my talent will no longer get me through Motos, but training will
MP: What other things do you like to do in your free time besides racing?
Luke Purther: In my free time I like to hang out with friends, go hunting, love to fish, and shooting guns is probably my favorite!
MP: What's the biggest challenge that comes with racing?
Luke Purther: The biggest challenge I have noticed with training is being mentally dedicated, if your heads not in it you won't be able to work hard. Same thing goes for racing, if your not mentally ready to race you won't be your best on the track.
MP: Out of all the places you have rode, where is your favorite place to throw a leg over a dirt bike and shred up the dirt?
Luke Purther: By far my favorite place to ride is at Camp Boom Diggity!
MP: Finally, who would you like to thank for helping you out?
Luke Purther: I wouldn't be able to do this sport without my parents, the lord Jesus Christ, and all my amazing sponsors.
