Originally from Hawaii now living in California is the #83 of Kai Mukai. Kai is setting his standards high, looking to make a name for himself this year. Kai stayed consistent finishing a solid 3rd place in 450 B mod, and 450 B limited at the California Classic. Kai has been putting in the work in hopes it pays off at Mammoth where he plans to better his results from the California Classic and walk away with a number one plate. We got the chance to sit down with with Kai and get the low down on what he's been up to lately.
Kai Mukai: As far as my training goes I went to Jeff Pastana, MX Clinic, he taught me a lot of on and off the bike training, I work out at home, I spin for 20 min then jump on the rowing machine for 20 min, then do a bunch of cardio, upper and lower body work outs, then go road biking or mountain biking. I also get some good training done with my buddy Ryan Surratt. The training has been going really good I feel good on and off the track!
MP: Talk about your last race and how it went.
Kai Mukai: My last race was at Glen Helen California classics I raced the 450B mod and stock and 250B mod the 450 motos went good had some good starts battled with Trevor Stewart. The track was getting rough but I felt better in the rough conditions ended up with two 3rd overalls in the 450 stock and mod then in the 250 class I had bad starts all weekend racing my stock bike in the mod class was trying my best to make up for the bad starts didn't end up to well in the overall think it was like 9th but it was a fun weekend with some awesome battles.
