Jon Ames has been stomping the competition like dirt start gates for years and as 2015 heats up he has no plans of letting up now. Freshly recruited by both Monster Energy and Seven, Jon-Jon's ability to shred it in the dirt matched with his off track social skills has apparently turned the right heads. A long time Yamaha ripper, the Thousand Oaks backed number 17 rider is war ready due in part to his long days in the dirt with Bud Man Buddy Antunez. We caught up with Jon as he was busy handling moto business for today's Playground talk!
MP: Good luck, sounds like a pretty rad day! You've got to be pumped to be with a solid crew like the people at Monster?
Jon Ames: I am proud to say that I will be riding for Monster Army this up coming season. Every body over there has shown me a lot of love and I just can't wait for Daytona.
MP: What've you been up to lately? Take me through your off season.
Jon Ames: I didn't really have much of an off season. I love to mountain bike so I probably peddled three or four days a week. I'm just having some fun getting into shape.
MP: I know you've been crazy busy preparing for the upcoming race season. Where have you been training and who with to get yourself into shape for the year?
Jon Ames: I have been training with Buddy Antunez in California. We go from track to track working and working all day long.
MP: Let's talk about your relationship with Scott. You've been ripping it for them the past seasons and it seems like a great working relationship.
Jon Ames: Absolutely! I have a great relationship with the guys at Scott. We have been working together since 2012 and hope to keep working with them for as long as I can.
MP: What are your plans for 2015? This is a big year for you and you're a contender in a ton of classes.
Jon Ames: My plans for 2015 are simple. I want to win as much as I can and stay healthy along the way.
MP: Can you describe Jon Ames in one sentence?
Jon Ames: I can't just say one sentence. I don't want to be known for just one sentence. I could write a book about who I am and where I have come from!
MP: Let's talk Yamaha...they push you forward and support you one hundred percent. You've been racking up wins aboard Blue bikes for quite some time now. Tell me more about your relationship with Yamaha.
Jon Ames: I have a great relationship with Thousand Oaks Yamaha and they give me the support that I need to keep racing. If I didn't have them I don't know where I would be at!
MP: Who are all of the awesome people helping you make it all happen this year Jon?
Jon Ames: The amazing people helping me this year are JGR, Thousand Oaks Yamaha, Factory Effex, Seven, N-Fab, Renthal, FMF, Scott, Pirelli, 6D, Renthal, Atlas Brace, and Monster Army.
