Team Green Monster Energy Kawasaki rider, Carson Mumford believes having as much gate time as possible is crucial with today’s competition. Carson has been racing every weekend that he can in California, Mumford usually rides at tracks like Glen Helen, Milestone or Perris to get him prepared for the 2015 season. However, The #122 ride of Mumford just recently suffered a lacerated spleen a couple weeks ago, putting him out of the racing scene for about two months. Carson says his plans are to recover and come back faster than ever. Carson attends a charter school where he only has to go to school for three days a week, giving him more time to focus on riding when he gets back to it.
MP: Tell me the mental aspect of you being injured.. it's the beginning of the year and an important time to be healthy. What’s it going to take for you to come back ahead of everyone?
MP: Some people are unable to go to a track and train with fast riders, What's it like being able to have fast people to train with and having your own trainer?
Carson: It's definitely awesome to train with the best, I think you have to train with the best to be the best. I've been training with Buddy Antunez since I was 6 years old, so he for sure knows when I need to pick it up or not. I train of the bike, I go to the gym I'll work on core, upper body, and my legs.
MP: Tell me about your thoughts on having fun. What is having fun verse not having fun when it comes to racing and training?
Carson: Not having fun is..... Not winning or sitting in a hospital bed with a lacerated spleen ( I'm doing that right now) Having fun is crossing that finish line first and hanging out with all my MX buddies.
MP: What's the rest of the season look like for the #122 bike?
Carson: Well I'll be heathy just in time to start doing the qualifiers for LL then I have California Classic, Mammoth and LL and my goals are just to charge for the win every moto.
MP: Thanks for taking time to sit down with us. I know you have some people who have been helping you out throughout your racing, who would you like to thank?
Carson: I would like to thank my Mom, Dad, Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki, Dunlop, Ryan Holiday, Mitch, DC Shoes, Renthal, Eks Brand Googles, Troy Lee Designs, Alpinestars, Asterisk, and Buddy Antunez
